About Our Instructor, Miss Saskia:
Saskia began her dance training at the age of 3. She spent 15 years training at Carousel Dance Centre in Waterloo, Ontario in ballet, modern, contemporary and jazz. Saskia’s training also included composition/choreography classes, ballet examinations and many dance workshops and intensives with various styles and teachers. She was a part of Carousel’s dance company, and touring company, performing at events, festivals and performances all over Southern Ontario. Saskia joined the assistant teaching program at her studio at the age of 11 and helped to teach dancers ranging from the ages of 3 to 14 in ballet and modern.
Saskia had the opportunity to be a soloist in multiple of her dance company’s shows. A couple of her highlights in her final year of training were performing the lead role in her studio’s year-end performance and achieving distinction on her Royal Academy of Dance Advanced 2 examination. As part of her studio’s composition program, Saskia choreographed many dance pieces throughout the years for both studio and theatre performances. In addition to choreography at her dance studio, Saskia worked as a choreographer and assistant choreographer in multiple plays and musicals at her high school. After concluding her formal dance training at the end of high school, Saskia performed with the McMaster Recreational Dance Company in her first and second years of university.
Saskia has a passion for all types of movement and over the years has fostered this through a love of many activities other than dance, some of which include yoga, running, hiking and rock climbing.
For the 2024/25 season, Saskia will be teaching Ballet Level 2, Ballet Level 3, and Lyrical/Contemporary Level 1. She will also be teaching alongside our Owner/Director, Arianna, the Competitive Choreo classes for the Competitive Team.
